PM Modi also asked the retiring Sreejesh to help groom a team for the future.

onveyed heaps on praises on the team after their winning feat at the Paris Olympics.

"A feat that will be cherished for generations to come! The Indian Hockey team shines bright at the Olympics, bringing home the Bronze Medal! This is even more special because it is their second consecutive Medal at the Olympics.

"Their success is a triumph of skill, perseverance and team spirit. They showed immense grit and resilience. Congratulations to the players. Every Indian has an emotional connect with Hockey and this accomplishment will make the sport even more popular among the youth of our nation," he posted on X.

After a day of despair, the Indian Men's Hockey team brought back smiles to the faces of 1.4 billion people after they defeated Spain to win the Bronze Medal at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Skipper Harmanpreet Singh scored a 2-1 lead against Spain in their men's hockey bronze medal match at Stade Yves-du-Manoir.

This is the second time in a row Indian Men's Hockey won the Bronze after coming third in Tokyo Olympics three years back.

After trailing in the match initially, Harmanpreet converted his second penalty corner of the match, helping India turn the tie on its head.

This comes after Marc Miralles converted a penalty stroke to give Spain a narrow lead in the second quarter.

This is Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh last international match, and the team gave him a memorable farewell right after winning it.

After a painful loss to Germany in the semifinal, India triumphantly bounced back in the Olympic bronze medal match.
