Rohit Sharma speaks on yelling at Shubman Gill during IND-AFG match

Mohali/IBNS: India captain Rohit Sharma was furious at his opening partner Shubman Gill after the skipper was run out without adding a run on the board in the first T20I match against Afghanistan here on Thursday.

Though Rohit started running for a quick single pushing the ball towards midoff, Gill looked the other way without noticing his skipper's intent.

Rohit ran down the pitch and found himself on the same side with Gill leaving the other end blank for the Afghan players to run him out.

Visibly angry, the skipper yelled at Gill while the junior partner remained quiet.

When he was asked about the incident at the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit said, "These things happen (on the run-out). When it happens you feel frustrated, you want to be out there and score runs for the team.

"Everything will not go your way. We won the game, that's more important. I wanted Gill to carry on, unfortunately, got out after playing a very good little innings."

Gill (23 off 12 balls, 5x4s) struck 5 boundaries but his cameo was ended by Mujeeb ur Rahman.

Shivam Dube's unbeaten 60 saw India pull off a comfortable victory over Afghanistan by six wickets in the first of the three-match T20I series at IS Bindra Stadium here.

Sent into bat, India restricted Afghanistan to 158/5 with the help of tight bowling by the bowlers on a good batting track.
