R Ashwin, Jadeja's strong show help India to register innings victory against Sri Lanka

Mohali: Indian bowlers put up a dominant show as they helped the side beat Sri Lankan by an innings and 222 runs in the first Test match of the series here on Sunday.

After bowling out the visitors for 174 runs in the first innings, Indian bowlers dismissed the entire side for 178 runs in the second.

Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin picked up four wickets each in the second innings to destroy Sri Lanka.

Mohammed Shami picked up two.

Niroshan Dickwella remained the top scorer for Sri Lanka by scoring 51 runs with his willow.

Jadeja took five wickets in the first innings to end Sri Lankan innings

India scored 574 runs for the loss of eights wickets in the first innings.
