Punjab Kings defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 5 wickets in IPL's last league match

Mumbai/IBNS: Punjab Kings registered a five-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last league match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 here Sunday.

Chasing a target of 158, Punjab scored 160/5 in 15.1 overs, courtesy Liam Livingstone's unbeaten 49 off 22 balls.

Shikhar Dhawan slammed 39 off 32 balls for Punjab.

Earlier, Hyderabad scored 157/8 in 20 overs.

Abhishek Sharma was the top scorer for Hyderabad with his 32-ball 43.

Harpreet Brar and Nathan Elis picked three wickets each for Punjab. 

The result will have no impact on either of the team's playoff fortunes as four teams have already qualified for the crucial stage of the tournament.

Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore will play the playoff matches.
