PM Imran Khan issues orders for revival of local cricket in Pakistan

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, a legendary cricketer and former World Cup-winning captain, has ordered immediate steps for the revival of local cricket by starting age-specific and school and college tournaments to hone fresh talent.

Imran, who captained Pakistan to the World Cup title in 1992, also stressed on holding district level tournaments which will include local teams.

Chief Secretary of Punjab province Jawad Rafique Malik issued instructions to Commissioner, Lahore, on Imran Khan’s orders, Daily Times reported.

Punjab Planning and Development Board Chairman Abdullah Khan Sanbal has been given additional charge of chairman, Central Punjab Cricket Association, to work on a new road for the revival of cricket.

Malik said the commissioners and deputy commissioners would take steps to promote cricket in the national interest and extend all possible cooperation to the Central Punjab Cricket Association.

Tournaments at school and college levels would be organized, including under-sixteen and under-nineteen teams from the districts.
