Pepsi IPL Fan Park, a huge success in its inaugural year: BCCI

Mumbai, May 27 (IBNS) Among those who watched the Pepsi IPL 2015 Final, played between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 24 May 2015, were over 15,000 fans in the Pepsi IPL Fan Park, at the Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Stadium at Nashik, the BCCI said.

The Pepsi IPL Fan Park was a huge success in its inaugural year. Fifteen cities across India hosted the Fan Park, with over 1.5 lakh enthusiasts visiting them to experience the thrill of watching the Pepsi IPL 2015 matches in a stadium-like setting.

The fans’ feedback was overwhelmingly positive. “It is no different than watching a game live in a stadium,” said some. They stated that the Fan Park, and the experience of watching matches there, had helped them overcome their disappointment of not having a stadium in their respective hometowns, where Pepsi IPL 2015 matches could be played.

“The Pepsi IPL Fan Park was instituted in the 2015 season. The numbers that visited the Fan Park in cities that haven’t hosted IPL matches as yet, speak for themselves. The Fan Park is a concept that will only go from strength to strength in the years to come,” Anurag Thakur, Secretary, BCCI, said.

“The IPL captured the imagination of cricket-lovers in the year of its inception, and it has remained popular ever since. The Pepsi IPL Fan Park was organised in fifteen Indian cities in the 2015 season. We will look to increase the number of centres in the coming seasons, so that more and more cricket enthusiasts across the length and breadth of India are able to watch and savour the matches in a stadium-like setting,” Rajeev Shukla, Chairman, IPL Governing Council, said.

"On behalf of the BCCI I would like to thank all the cricket lovers who visited the Fan Park to watch the IPL matches and made it a grand success," Jagmohan Dalmiya, President, BCCI said.
