People forget what Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli achieved in the past: Yuvraj Singh on duo receiving flak over flop show in BGT

New Delhi/IBNS: Former Indian cricket icon Yuvraj Singh has backed skipper Rohit Sharma and his predecessor Virat Kohli, who have been slammed for poor form in the backdrop of the national team's drubbing against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-2025.

Speaking to the media, Yuvraj said people often forget what greats like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli achieved in the past.

The southpaw said, "I look at what India has achieved in the last five-six years. They have achieved two back-to-back victories in Australia. I don't remember if any other team has done that.

"We are saying bad things about our greats Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli.. People often forget what they have achieved in the past. They are one of the greatest cricketers of this time."

"I am sure that India will bounce back," added the best player of 2011 World Cup.

India, who were off to a flying start in the BGT in Perth, were thrashed by Australia in the second match in Adelaide and drew the third contest in Brisbane.

Australia secured a 2-1 lead in the fourth match in Melbourne where India, who were looking for either a win or a draw, bit the dust quite unexpectedly due to suicidal batting.

Though India's pace bowling sensation Jasprit Bumrah fought hard to keep India in the contest in the final match, Australia were too good to be defeated in Sydney where the hosts lifted the BGT.

On a tour where most of the batters flopped and India's scoreline remained below 200 on several occasions, Rohit and Virat's performances came under the scanner.

Rohit, who scored only 31 runs in five innings, "opted out" out of the final Test where India were led by Bumrah, who won the Player of the Series award with 32 wickets.

Kohli, however, slammed an unbeaten century in Perth but his dismissal in off-stumps balls in seven out of nine occasions drew flak.

Kohli scored 190 runs in nine innings but 100 came from one inning that he played in Perth.
