One forty crore Indians are cheering for you: Narendra Modi wishes Rohit Sharma and his team ahead of World Cup final clash against Australia

Indian PM Narendra Modi on Sunday wished Rohit Sharma and his men for the World Cup final clash against five-time World Cup champions Australia.

He said the entire nation is praying for their success.

He wrote on X: "All the best Team India! 140 crore Indians are cheering for you."

"May you shine bright, play well and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship," he said.

Australia won the toss and elected to field first against India in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup finals at Narendra Modi Stadium here on Sunday.

Both countries are fielding the same teams which they played in their respective semifinal matches of the tournament.

A lot is at stake for India as the Rohit Sharma-led side aim for their third World Cup title, while Australia will look to lift the cup for the sixth time.

Plenty of stars are on song in this tournament. Virat Kohli just notched up his record 50 ODI centuries, breaking Sachin Tendulkar's record at the Wankhede against New Zealand in the first semifinal.

David Warner and Glenn Maxwell also have done well, along with Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood would like to give some uncomfortable moments inside 10 overs against dashing openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill.

India's bowling also has been fascinating throughout the tournament, especially Mohammad Shami has been on a murderous spree. In the semifinals he snatched up seven wickets.
