Novak Djokovic beats Britain's James Ward in his Wimbledon opener

London, June 27 (IBNS): Serbian Tennis star Novak Djokovic cruised to the next round of the Wimbledon on Monday by beating Britain's James Ward in the first round clash.

Novak beat his opponent 6-0 7-6 6-4.

Novak is defending the title.

"James was serving with a lot of precision and it was not easy to break his serve," Djokovic told BBC Sport.

US Tennis star Venus WIlliams also won her first round match of the Wimbledon by beating Croatia's Donna Vekic 7-6 (7-3) 6-4 in the women's singles event.
