Narendra Modi, Sachin Tendulkar lead nation in congratulating Indian team over T20 WC victory against Pakistan

New Delhi: The nation rejoiced India's spectacular victory over Pakistan in a T20 World Cup match and Indian PM Narendra Modi also joined the celebration and praised Virat Kohli's for his match winning knock and described it as 'spectacular'.

"The India team bags a well fought victory! Congratulations for an outstanding performance today. A special mention to@imVkohli for a spectacular innings in which he demonstrated remarkable tenacity. Best wishes for the games ahead," Modi tweeted.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said: "A perfect way to start the T20 World Cup…Deepawali begins :) What a cracking innings by @imVkohli . Congratulations to the entire team."

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also tweeted to wish the team on emerging victorious.

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar said Virat Kohli's 82 runs knock was the best ever he played.

"@imVkohli, it was undoubtedly the best innings of your life. It was a treat to watch you play, the six off the back foot in the 19th over against Rauf over long on was spectacular! Keep it going," he siad.

Praising India team's performance, he said: "Thriller of a game which has beautifully set up India’s #T20WC campaign!Crucial contributions by a number of individuals, but a special mention to Hardik’s partnership with Virat which was very crucial for #TeamIndia."

Former Indian batting star VVS Laxman posted: " Sport is a great teacher and when it comes to champions, the comeback is always greater than the setback. It is for moments like these that you play the game. Great performances by Arshdeep, Shami, Bhuvi & Hardik with the ball. Hardik brilliant in that partnership with Kohli."

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh said: " Simply superb and one of the finest victories for Team India. Congratulations from the bottom of my heart. What an innings by imVkohli @hardikpandya7 @arshdeepsinghh  You have all done a commendable work. @BCCI."

Ex-Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh said: "Kept his cool @ashwinravi99 leaving that ball for a wide !!! What a game unbelievable!!’ #indiavspak is always more than a game ‘ it’s an emotion !!! greatness personified @imVkohli ."
