Mumbai FC sign Kundan Chandra as Head of Youth Development

Mumbai Sept 2 (IBNS) :Football club Mumbai FC on Tuesday said it has signed AFC A License Coach Kundan Chandra as its Head of Youth Development.

Kundan Chandra is an AIFF ‘D’ License Instructor along with being an AIFF Scout for the U17 World Cup.

"Chandra brings his valuable expertise to Mumbai FC in areas such as Youth Football, Grassroots, Women’s Football as well as organizing football festivals," the club said in a statement.

On signing for Mumbai FC, Chandra said, “My objective is to produce players of high quality who are technically, mentally, psychologically and physiologically fit and are also model citizens of the society. We are in process of designing and implementing one of the most ambitious grassroots football structures in India. It will be my endeavor to make sure that all the Mumbai FC Youth Teams perform to the best of their ability and the players subsequently go on to represent club and country. I am looking forward to this mammoth responsibility.”

Mumbai FC Dy. Vice President, Atul Badgamia said, “We are pleased to appoint Kundan Chandra and we feel he is the right man for the job. His has worked in grassroots football, youth football, coach education and all other aspects which will only help us create a robust youth system for our club.”

This will be Chandra’s second stint at Mumbai FC, the last one being in 2012-13 as the Head Coach for the Mumbai FC U20 team.

He was an Indian Navy Official for 20 years and used to play and then coach the Indian Navy team in the Inter-services, Local and National tournaments.

Chandra brings with him over 10 years of coaching experience which includes being the Head Coach of Indian Navy, Bengal Mumbai FC, PIFA Colaba and Mumbai FC U20 team.
