MS Dhoni, Shahid Afridi to play charity match this month

London,Sept 2 (IBNS): Indian ODI and T20 skipper MS Dhoni will share dressing room with Virender Sehwag and Pakistani player Shahid Afridi for a charity match which will be played at the Kia Oval in London on Sept 17.

The match will be played between Help for Heroes XI and Rest of the World.

Dhoni will represent the  Help for Heroes XI. Former England skipper Andrew Strauss  has been named the captain of the squad.

New Zealand's Brendon McCullum  will lead the Rest of the World side which will also feature names like Graeme Smith, Matthew Hayden, Mahela Jayawardene, Brian Lara and Dan Vettori.

Dhoni was quoted as saying by kiaoval.com as saying: “I am delighted to be joining so many cricketing superstars at the Kia Oval on Thursday September 17 and supporting such a worthy cause."

“I’ve always enjoyed playing cricket in England and I would urge all sports fans to support Help for Heroes on September 17 and watch some truly world class performers in action," he said.

Dhoni's side will be managed by former England cricketer Sir Ian Botham while ex-Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar has been named the manager of Rest of the World.

Former Indian coach and ex-South African batsman Gary Kirsten has been appointed as the coach of the Rest of the World squad.
