Mohun Bagan clinch I-League

Bangalore, May 31 (IBNS): Kolkata erupted in joy as Mohun Bagan clinched the I-League by finishing the crucial match against Bengaluru FC to a 1-1 draw here on Sunday.

Bello Rasaq decided the title triumph for the Kolkata club as he scored a crucial goal in the 86th minute to manage a draw.

John Johnson scored the first goal in the match in the 41st minute to make  Bengaluru FC 1-0 up in the match.

The home side went 1-0 up into the half-time.

As Bagan raced against time and with just four more minutes left for the final whistles to be blown,   Rasaq scored the equaliser as the club ended the season with 39 points.

Bengaluru FC  finished the season with 37 points.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated the side for winning the prestigious tournament as she tweeted: "After 11 years the Football I-League trophy comes back to #Bengal. Congratulations Mohun Bagan."
