Lee announces his retirement from cricket

Melbourne, Jan 15 (IBNS): Australian pacer Brett lee has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket following the ending of the Big Bash League (BBL) this year.

In his Facebook page, the cricketer said,"Can I first start by thanking my Amazing family. My beautiful Wife Lana, my gorgeous son Preston My Mum and Dad, brothers Shane and Grant. I am really keen to thank the organisations that have given me the opportunity to play this wonderful game. Specifically Channel 9, Cricket Australia through both Mal Speed and James Sutherland, Cricket NSW, Sydney Sixers, KKR, KXIP, Mosman, Campbelltown and of course, Oak Flats Rats who gave me the start."

"A massive thank you to my Manager Neil Maxwell and Judie Anderson for their support, leadership and honesty over the past 20 years," he said.

"One sponsor in particular has been brilliant to me over my entire career. That is of course Sanitarium as I am a Weet-Bix Kid through and through. Thanks so much to the lovely people in Berkley Vale. And of course the fans!  Thanks to you all for the love and support over the last 2 decades. It's been a lot of fun,"the cricketer said.

He had announced his retirement from international cricket in 2012.

Lee played in the 2003 World Cup where Australia defeated India in the final to lift the trophy.

He will play the remaining of BBL for Sydney Sixers.

Highlights of his international career:

Lee picked up 310 wickets from 76 Test matches he played in his career.

He took 380 wickets from 221 One Day International matches he played in the past 13 years.

He played 25 T20 matches for Australia and scalped 28 wickets.

He scored five fifties in Test matches and three half-centuries in ODIs.
