Kolkata schools dominate as fierce rowing battles rock Rabindra Sarobar regatta

Kolkata/IBNS: City based National High School, Tirthapati Institution, Patha Bhavan and St Larence along with J H Tarapore, P M Shri and RMS High Schools from Jamshedpur performed well as the preliminary rounds of the 51st All India InvitationInter school Rowing Championship were held at the Lake Club Course of Rabindra Sarobar here Tuesday.

The National High School Senior Girls team defeated Kamala Girls School and Ashok Hall in the double scull and fours events respectively while their junior girls team beat La Martiniere High School in Junior Girls Four.

Their Junior Boys team also beat New Horizon in double scull, but their senior boys team lost to Khalsa High School at the same event .

Apart from defeating National High School in the double scull, Khalsa High senior boys teams "a" and "b " also beat South Point "A"and "B"  respectively at the same event.

Another city school - Tirthapati Institution also made their presence felt as their junior boys "a" team defeated St James double scull after their junior boys "b" team won against Patha Bhaban "a" in fours event.

In another race in junior boys double scull there "a" team beat compatriots "b" team.

Among the three outstation schools who came from Jamshedpur, each made their mark winning at least a race today. 

While J H Tapaore High School defeated Ashok Hall in junior girls fours and P M Shri High School defeated Khalsa High School insenior boys double scull while R M S School got the better of Patha Bhavan in junior girls double scull.

In senior boys events, St Lawrence shone as they  defeated Hirendra Leela Patranavis School both senior boys double scull and fours events.

South Point High School, which has been taking part in this school regatta since its inception and known as a strong contender, could not live up to the expectation so far.

However, their senior boys "a' team won against New Horizon in the double scull event.
