Jammu and Kashmir: Ishrat Akhtar to represent India in wheelchair basketball

| @indiablooms | Oct 21, 2022, at 09:49 pm

Wheelchair Basketball Federation of India has selected  Kashmir’s first international wheelchair basketball player Ishrat Akhtar to represent India, media reports said on Friday.

The player belongs to  North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

She is not only Kashmir’s first international wheelchair basketball player, but is also a torch for many other people. Even before this, Ishrat has represented the country at the international and national levels, reports ANI.

She said she never thought it was possible for her to represent India.

“For training, I had to travel from Baramulla to Srinagar every day due to lack of infrastructure in Baramulla. I was able to overcome this difficult period with the full support of my parents. They always encouraged me and never let me lose heart,” she was quoted as saying by ANI.
