It was my day, says Pakistan's gold medal winner Arshad Nadeem following Paris Olympic triumph

Pakistan's first individual gold medalist and javelin star Arshad Nadeem expressed his confidence and high spirit which drove him to gold medal victory in the Paris Olympics on Thursday when he said it was his day and he could have thrown even greater distance since he was in a rhythm.

The 27-year-old javelin thrower, in an exclusive conversation with Geo News, said: "It was my day. I could have thrown it at a greater distance."

The athlete revealed the reason behind his win when he said he was "in the rhythm" and "hopeful" to win the gold medal with how far he had launched the javelin.

Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem set a new Olympic record mark of 92.97m throw.

Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, who breached the 90m mark at the Commonwealth Games in 2022, also qualified for the javelin throw final with his season-best throw of 86.59 m.

Nadeem ended Pakistan's 32-year medal hunt by bagging the gold medal in Paris Olympics.

Pakistan last won an Olympic medal in 1992 when the hockey team had clinched bronze.
