IPTL: Federer wins it for Indian Aces

New Delhi, Dec 7 (IBNS) In his debut match International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) match, Swiss Tennis icon Roger Federer played a key role in helping his Indian Aces beat Singapore Slammers 26-16 on Sunday and also captivating his fans here with his master strokes.

Federer teamed up with local star Sania Mirza for the first time as the duo defeated Bruno Soares and Daniela Hantuchova 6-0 and then went ahead to clinch the doubles match against  Lleyton Hewitt and Nick Krygios 6-1  with Rohan Bopanna on his side.

Federer also won singles clash against Tomas Berdych 6-4.

Ana Ivanovic maintained Aces' dominance by beating Daniela Hantuchova 6-5 in a close contest to win the match.

Aces had lost the first match with  Patrick Rafter beating Pete Sampras 6-2.  

Speaking on her pairing up with the Swiss legend, Sania tweeted: "Honoured I had the best seat in the house @rogerfederer was on fire today on the court and with strategies off it."
