IPL 2025: SRH v DC match abandoned due to rain

Hyderabad/IBNS: Match 55 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals was called due to heavy rain at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Both teams share a points each.

With that Sunrisers Hyderabad moved to no. 8 in the points table with 7 points from 11 games.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals remained at no. 5 with 13 points from 11 games. This further opens up this season’s race to play-offs. SRH will play their next game on the 10th of May against KKR at home, while DC will travel to Dharamshala to play the Punjab Kings on May 8.

Before the thunderstorm struck Hyderabad, it was Pat Cummins and his fiery SRH attack that brought the storm on Delhi Capitals.

Electing to bowl first, Cummins made an immediate impact by removing Karun Nair off the very first ball. He followed it up with the wickets of Faf du Plessis and Abishek Porel in his next two overs, leaving DC reeling at 26/4 inside the powerplay.

The pressure never eased as Jaydev Unadkat dismissed KL Rahul, and Cummins pulled off a stunning catch to send back Axar Patel, reducing DC to 47/5 at the halfway mark.

Ashutosh Sharma (41 off 28) and Tristan Stubbs (41* off 36) offered brief resistance, stitching together a 66-run stand to lift DC to 133/7. Cummins finished with exceptional figures of 3/19, leading from the front.

But just as the contest was heating up, rain had the final say as the match was washed out without a ball being bowled in the SRH chase of what could’ve been an intriguing one for them.
