IPL 2023: Yashasvi Jaiswal leads Royals' charge in denting Knights' playoff hopes

Kolkata/IBNS: Rajasthan Royals' young batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal toyed with the hosts slamming an unbeaten 98 in decimating Kolkata Knight Riders by nine wickets in the 56th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Eden Gardens here on Thursday.

Chasing a modest total of 150, Jaiswal led Rajasthan from the front partnering his skipper Sanju Samson in keeping them alive in the IPL 2023.

Jaiswal stopped at two short of his hundred in 47 balls when Rajasthan scored 151/1 in just 13.1 overs.

Though he missed his hundred, Jaiswal's knock comprising 13 fours and five sixes left the Kolkata fans silent in awe at the iconic stadium.

With an unbeaten 48 off 29 balls, Samson played a captain's knock giving all support to Jaiswal who helped the visitors earn two points to advance to the third spot in the IPL standings.

After the visitors sent them to bat first, Kolkata had a lacklustre evening as the hosts crawled to 149/8 in 20 overs.

Ventakesh Iyer's 57 off 42 balls was the only knock to be remembered from the Knights' camp which would find it extremely difficult to make it to the playoffs from here.

For Rajasthan, Yuzvendra Chahal picked four wickets conceding only 25 runs in four overs giving an advantage to the visitors.
