IPL 2023: CSK-GT final in Ahmedabad today after a Sunday washout due to rain

Ahmedabad/IBNS: All eyes of the cricket fans will be on the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad where Mahendra Singh Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings will lock horns with the defending champions Gujarat Titans for the epic final battle of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Monday.

The match is being held on the reserve day after not a single ball was bowled in the cricket stadium due to heavy downpour on Sunday.

The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm.

As per the weather reports, the match is likely to be played fully with 20 overs for each side as skies are clearer on Monday, reports said. However, brief showers are not ruled out even on Monday.

Dhoni's Chennai were the first team in IPL 2023 to reach the final defeating Gujarat, who thrashed Mumbai Indians in the eliminator match, in the qualifier one contest.

Chennai are one of the most successful IPL teams winning the trophy four times, all under Dhoni's captaincy, over the last 16 years.

Gujarat, who are led by India's star allrounder Hardik Pandya, will be the first team to win the trophy for two consecutive years if the men-in-blue go past the yellow brigade in the final on Monday.

But if it rains again and the final is washed out, reports suggest the league table topper will be handed over the trophy. In that scenario, Gujarat will have the last laugh in IPL 2023.

Looking at the head-to-head stats, Gujarat are in a dominant position winning three out of four matches the two teams played against each other.
