Indian women excel in Asian Nation Cup Chess

New Delhi, May 30 (IBNS) Indian women won a gold and two silvers in the recently concluded Asian Nation Cup Chess-2014 held at Iran.

Indian team, comprised of 3-time National Champion Mary Ann Gomes, Dronavalli Harika, Padmini Rout, Nisha Mohta and Tania Sachdev, won gold in six-nation Blitz tournament by defeating formidable Chinese team in the final round by 2.5-1.5 points.

However, China piped India in both classic and rapid events to win gold medals.

Mary Ann Gomes and Padmini Rout also won individual silver medals on their respective boards.
