Incheon, Sept 27 (IBNS): Indian archers created history by clinching first ever gold in Men's compound team event in Incheon on Saturday. To add to the glamour, the Women's compound team clinched the third spot, winning bronze.

Saturday’s morning brought some good news to the country, when the Men’s compound team clinched their first ever gold in the category.

The gold-winning compound archery team of Rajat Chauhan, Sandeep Kumar & Abhishek Verma beat hosts South Korea 227-225 in final.

India finally has their second yellow medal in the Asian Games, the first achieved by Jitu Rai on the opening day of competition at Incheon.

An hour later, the women’s counterpart bagged bronze too.

The women’s team beat Iran to win the bronze medal. The Indian team of Trisha Deb, Purvasha Sudhir Shende, Jyothi Surekha Vennam beat Iran 224-217.

It is not the end of glory for Indian archers at Incheon.

Right after the team event, the archers proved their skill in the individual events also.

Trisha Deb beat Taipei's Huang I Jou 138-134 to win bronze in women's compound individual archery event.

It has been learnt that, bronze medalist Trisha won the World Archery Federation's Gold Target award in 2013.

But the fact which is more heart-melting is that gold medallist team member Rajat Chauhan's mother sold gold ornaments to buy imported archery kit for his son.

Son didn’t disappoint his parents.

Rajat upheld his mother’s sacrifice by bringing back gold.

In other events, Indian athletes finished in the podium as well.

Indian women's squash team loses 2-0 to Malaysia in final, settled for silver medal.

Chain Singh won shooting bronze in Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions event.

In some other events, India progressed towards medal finish.
