Indian batting line-up lacks depth: Dhoni

| | Feb 08, 2015, at 04:36 am
Melbourne, Feb 7 (IBNS): With India gearing up to defend the World Cup, captain MS Dhoni on Saturday said his side's batting line-up lacked the depth.

"Also, we have to alter out batting order according to the conditions. Wickets in hands is our strength and once we have wickets in hand we can really exploit the conditions. We are not that deep when it comes to batting and are different to other teams. You have to pick options and learn to score runs freely," Dhoni was quoted as saying by bcci.tv.

He said adapting to the conditions in Australia is crucial.

"What is important is to adapt to the conditions and the middle overs. Bowling in the middle overs will also be crucial because that will put pressure on the opposition which will put a cap on the scoring from the 35th over onwards and the slog. We haven’t had much opportunity to bowl in the slog overs which is something that will come into action when the World Cup starts," he said.

Dhoni said the break after the Tests and the ODI series have 'definitely helped them recharge their batteries'.

India got a bad news as pacer Ishant Sharma has failed in the fitness test, media reports said.

The World Cup will start from Feb 14.
