India beat Ireland in women's hockey group league match in Tokyo Olympics

Tokyo/IBNS:India defeated Ireland 1-0 in the hockey group league match in Tokyo Olympics 2020 here Friday.

With this win, India kept their hope for a quarterfinal berth alive.

Earlier Friday, India guaranteed the second medal in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2020 after boxer Lovlina Borgohain won the quarterfinal clash here.

Lovlina defeated her Chinese Taipei opponent, Nien-Chin Chen, to cruise into the semifinals, securing at least a bronze medal.

Borgohain, a two-time world championship bronze-medallist, outclassed Chen 4-1 to make the last-four.
