Antakya, Turkey/IBNS: Ghanaian former Premier League athlete Christian Atsu was found dead amidst the ruins of the earthquake-stricken region in Turkey.

Last week, there were erroneous reports claiming that Christian Atsu, a 31-year-old footballer who had played for notable clubs such as Newcastle United and Everton, had been hospitalized.

However, it has now been confirmed that Atsu was tragically found dead amidst the earthquake rubble in Turkey.

He had been playing for Hatayspor in the Super League before his tragic death.

In the aftermath of the seismic activity that occurred in Turkey and Syria on Feb 6, which resulted in the deaths of a vast number of individuals, Christian Atsu was reported missing in Antakya.

Christian Atsu's philanthropic endeavors extended beyond his illustrious footballing career, as he also held the esteemed position of ambassador for the esteemed charitable organization, Arms Around the Child.

This charitable foundation, which operates in Ghana, South Africa, and India, strives to provide children with crucial amenities such as homes, protection, education, and overall support

A Premier League statement said, “We are deeply saddened by the news Christian Atsu lost his life in the devastation of the earthquakes that have hit Turkey and Syria. Our thoughts and condolences are with Christian’s family and friends and everyone affected by this tragic event.”
