Berlin, Aug 11 (IBNS): German footballer Miroslav Klose has announced his retirement from internbational football.

He had played an important role in the German side which won the World Cup this year.

With 71 strike for the national side, Klose is the highest-scoring player in Germany’s history.

"Lifting the trophy in Brazil was the fulfilment of a childhood dream for me," the 36-year-old said in a statement released by the German football federation.

"I’m proud and happy to have been able to contribute to such a great achievement for German football. I had a unique and wonderful time with the national team and enjoyed many unforgettable moments.
