England need only 35 runs to win Oval Test on day five, India aim to choke tail-enders

London/IBNS: The fifth Test between England and India entered the final day after rain interrupted the hosts' run-chase at Kennington Oval in London on Sunday.

England scored 339-6 at stumps, falling short of 35 runs from the target of 374.

World No. 1 Test batter Harry Brook (111 off 98 balls) and veteran Joe Root (105 off 152 balls) anchored England's run-chase taking away the match from India's grip.

However, Root's dismissal before the rain ruined the last hour's play brought India back into the game.

When the fifth day's play begins, India bowlers, who will return to the field after a rest, will aim to wrap up the English tail within 35 runs to level the series 2-2.

On whether Chris Woakes, who suffered an injury, would come out to bat if England needed on day five, Root told the mediapersons, "It's been that kind of a series where guys have had to put bodies on the line and hopefully it doesn't get to that... He's ready if needed."
