England dominate day one of third Test after Indian batting collapse

Leeds/IBNS: In a terrific turnaround after the defeat in London, England ruled the first day's play of the third Test by decimating the powerful batting unit of Virat Kohli-led India and later consolidating their advantage with the bat.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, India Wednesday put up an embarrassing total on the board as they were bundled out for just 78.

Rohit Sharma (19) and Ajinkya Rahane (18) were the ones to score in double digits on a day when there is hardly anything to talk about the Indian batting.

England's James Anderson and Craig Overton picked three wickets each while Ollie Robinson and Sam Curran cleared the rest.

Though Indian fans were praying for some drama with the ball, they were offered nothing but disappointment as the Indian pace battery failed to get a breakthrough for the rest of the day.

When the day's play ended with an unhappy face of Kohli walking towards the change room, England scored 120 runs taking a subtle lead of 42 runs.
