Dhruv Jurel, Ravichandran Ashwin look steady, India 388/7 at lunch on day 2 in Rajkot

Rajkot/IBNS: Debutant Dhruv Jurel and experienced allrounder Ravichandran Ashwin steadied India after dismissal of centurion Ravindra Jadeja to help the home side post 388/7 at lunch on day 2 of third Test against England in Rajkot on Friday.

Jurel (31 off 71 balls) and Ashwin (25 off 64 balls) remained unbeaten when the players went back to the dressing room for lunch.

While James Anderson picked Kuldeep Yadav early in the morning, Jadeja, who slammed a ton last evening, was caught and bowled by Joe Root at 112.

India captain Rohit Sharma slammed a mesmerising knock of 131 off 196 balls on the first day to lead his team to a respectable total following early setbacks.

Other debutant Sarfaraz Khan slammed a quick 62 (9 fours and 1 six) until he was run out due to a misunderstanding with his partner Jadeja.

The five-match Test series is level at 1-1.
