CWG: Sanjita grabs India's first gold

Glasgow, July 24 (IBNS): India clinched their first gold in the 2014 Commonwealth Games as Khumukcham Sanjita Chanu won the medal in women's 48kg weightlifting here on Thursday.

In the same event, Saikhom Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal.

Sanjita won the gold with a total lift of 173kg (77+96).

The silver medallist  made a cumulative effort of 170 (75+95).

The bronze medal was won by Nigeria’s Nkechi Opara with 162 (70+92).
