Court defers order on framing charges in IPL spot-fixing case

New Delhi, June 29 (IBNS) A Delhi court on Monday deferred till July 25 its order on framing of charges in the IPL 2013 spot-fixing case.

Underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his aide Chhota Shakeel besides suspended cricketers Ajit Chandila, S Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan
are among the accused in the case.

Additional Sessions Judge Neena Bansal Krishna said the order sheet is not prepared yet.

The court had on May 23 reserved for June 29 the order on framing of charges in the case.

It had also had asked the counsel appearing for the accused to file their written arguments, if any, by June 6.

Special Cell of Delhi Police has named 42 accused in the case in its charge sheet.

Six of the accused, including Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel are absconding.

During the arguments on framing of charges in the case, the police had referred to telephonic conversations among the accused and alleged that call records will prove their links to a crime syndicate.

Police had told the court that properties of Dawood and Shakeel in Mumbai have already been attached in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case and that they have not visited India since 1993.

police had filed a 6,000-page chargesheet against various accused in the case.

The court had granted bail to Sreesanth, Chavan and  several others for lack of evidence against them.
