CL T20: Northern beat Cobras

Raipur, Sept 19 (IBNS) In the third match of the Champions League T20, Northern Districts defeated Cape Cobras by 33 runs via D/L method here on Friday.

With rain disrupting the game,  Cobras struggled to gain the momentum  as they were 44 for two while chasing down a massive 206 for five as set by the opponents.

It was at that point when rains started and as it continued the umpires decided to end the match.

Cobras had lost the wickets of Stiaan van Zyl (0) and Hashim Amla (20) as the team struggled at 44 for two.

Robin Peterson (17*) and Omphile Ramela (4*) were at the crease with rain disrupting the match.

Earlier, riding on Kane Williamson's magnificent 101-run knock  Northern Districts posted 206 on the scoreboard.

Kane and Anton Devcich (67) added 140 runs in the first wicket partnership.

Kane smashed eight boundaries and five sixes in his knock.

Charl Langeveldt and Vernon Philander took two wickets each.

Northern Districts 206 for five (K Williamson 101; C  Langeveldt  2/27)

Cape Cobras 44 for two (H Amla 20; T Boult 1/8)
