Melbourne, Jan 5 (IBNS) West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle came under scrutiny and received a lot of flak after asking out a female presenter on a date live on air.

The big Jamaican, post his blistering innings for the Melbourne Renegades against the Hobert Hurricanes on Monday was being interviewed by presenter Melanie McLaughlin when the gaffe took place.

On being asked about his innings, Gayle responded, "I just wanted to have an interview with you as well, that's why I batted so well."

He then added, "Your eyes are beautiful, hopefully we can win this game and then we can have a drink after as well. Don't blush baby."

Following this, the bemused interviewer said that she's not blushing and managed to laugh it off.

The incident was however noticed by millions who took to social networking sites to complain about Gayle lack of professionalism.
