Charges against 2 Indian officials dropped

Glasgow, Aug 4 (IBNS): In a significant development, charges against Indian Olympic Association (IOA) secretary general Rajeev Mehta and wrestling referee Virender Malik were dropped on Monday, media reports said.

No hearing in connection with the matter came up for hearing at a Scotland court on Monday.

"Charges against Indian Olympic Association secretary-general Rajeev Mehta and wrestling referee Virender Malik for drunken driving and sexual assault, respectively, during the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow have been dropped," NDTV reported.

The two officials were arrested on separate charges of drunken driving and sexual misdemeanor, according reports on Sunday.

The Commonwealth Games ended on Sunday with India winning 64 medals in total.
