Bombay HC allows IPL match in Pune on May 1
Citing logistical reasons, counsel Rafiq Dada appeared in the court for BCCI and sought its consideration over the issue.
A division bench of Justice V M Kanade and Justice M S Karnik permitted the BCCI to host the match.
With Maharashtra hit by severe drought, the Bombay High Court last week directed to shift 13 IPL matches, which are scheduled to be held in the state after Apr 30, outside the state.
The IPL final was also scheduled to be played in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on May 29.
The court gave the verdict while hearing a petition by an NGO.
Amid drought situation in Maharashtra, the Bombay High Court on Apr 6 questioned the BCCI and cricket associations in Maharashtra and Mumbai over the issue of use of water for maintaining cricket pitches in the state.
The court said 20 matches of the league, which are scheduled to be played in Maharashtra, should be shifted to states that have abundant water.
The observation was made by a division Bench of the court headed by Justice V M Kanade while it was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by NGO Loksatta Movement.
