Australian Open: Rafael Nadal crashes out, Murry reaches SF

Melbourne, Jan 27 (IBNS) Shocking his fans and millions of Tennis lovers across the globe, Spain Tennis icon Rafael Nadal crashed out of the Australian Open after he was defeated by Tomas Berdych in the quarter-finals of the men's singles event here on Tuesday.

The Czech, seeded seventh, defeated Nadal 6-2 6-0 7-6 (7-5).

Following his defeat, Nadal was quoted as saying by .ausopen.com: "“You cannot expect to win matches in quarterfinals of Grand Slam helping the opponent to play well. That's what I did.”

“I am not very happy because I didn't competed the way I wanted to compete the first two sets and that's something that I don't like, " he said.

He will face Andy Murray in the semi-final.

UK's Murray beat  Nick Kyrgios 6-3 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 to reach the last four stage of the tournament.

Menwhile, in he women's singles, Russian star Maria Sharapova has reached the semi-finals by beating seventh seed Eugenie Bouchard 6-3 6-2.

The m\contest lasted for just an hour and 18 minutes.

Sharapova will face compatriot Ekaterina Makarova in the last four stage of he tournament.
