Australia in semis: Beat Pak by 6 wickets

Adelaide, Mar 20 (IBNS) Australia romped home for a semi final berth in the ICC World Cup when they thrashed Pakistan by six wickets in their quarter final match .

Chasing a modest target of 214, the mighty Aussies lost three quick wickets in the fall of Aaron Finch (2), David Warne (24) r and captain Machael Clarke(8), but Steven Smith and Shane Watson made things easy and pocketed the match for the hosts with 16 overs to spare.

Smith scored an immaculate 65 off 69 balls while Watson piled up a brilliant 64 in 66 balls to stitch up an 89-run stand in the fourth wicket displaying the typical Australian skills and temperament..

However, Josh Hazlewood was named the Man of the Match for his four- wicket haul that helped restrict Pakistan to 213 runs.

In the semi final Australia will take on India.

Earlier, Pakistan batsmen were all out scoring  213 runs in 49.5 overs.

They struggled in front of some disciplined Australian bowling with Josh Hazlewood (4-35) destroying the Asian side with his devastating spell.

Haris Sohail remained the top scorer for Pakistan with his 41.

Misbah-ul-Haq (34), Umar Akmal (20), Sohaib Maqsood (29) and Shahid Afridi (23) failed to convert the start they got in the match.
