Australian batsmen dominated the proceedings after Mitchell Starc scalped six wickets to bowl out India for 180 runs on the first day of the Pink Ball Test in Adelaide on Friday.

After bowling out India, Australian batsmen put up 86 runs for the loss of one wicket at the stumps.

Usman Khawaja (13) was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah and the second day's proceedings will be carried out by Nathan McSweeney (38) and Marnus Labuschagne (20).

Australia trail India by 94 runs.

Australian fast bowling star Mitchell Starc scalped six wickets to bowl out India for 180 runs in the second Test match of the ongoing series on Friday.

Nitish Kumar Reddy  (42) topscored for India on the first day of the Pink Ball Test in Adelaide, the same venue where the national squad was bowled out for 36 runs.

Apart from him, Rahul and Shubman Gill also scored 37 and 31 runs respectively with the rest of the batting lineup struggling against the fierce bowling attack.

Scott Boland and Pat Cummins took two wickets each.

This was Starc's 15th five-wicket haul in Test cricket.

This is the second time India is playing a Pink Ball Test against Australia.

Rohit Sharma returned to the Indian squad to lead it but failed to shine even after batting in the sixth position. He scored 3 runs before Boland dismissed him.

Kohli failed to shine once again and returned to the pavilion after scoring just 7 runs.

India's start to the innings after winning the toss was dismal   Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a golden duck on the first ball of the match.

Jaiswal, caught in front of the stumps, failed to review the decision and was given out lbw.
