Hangzhou/UNI: The Indian archery contingent bagged their second gold medal at the Asian Games 2023 as the women's compound team won 230-229 against Chinese Taipei in the final here on Thursday.

This was India's 19th gold medal at Hangzhou Asiad, and 82nd in the overall continental meet.

After the first end, India, comprising Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Gopichand Swami and Parneet Kaur, were behind by two points but took the lead, thanks to Chinese Taipei's shooter getting just seven points of her sixth arrow.

With the scores on par at 171-171 in the second last end, India outscored Chinese Taipei by a point to win the gold medal match.

Ojas Pravin Deotale, Abhishek Verma and Prathamesh Jawkar, meanwhile, will feature in the Indian men's team quarter-final at 12:15 PM IST today.

In the semifinals, the team won 233-219 against Indonesia, securing a medal and a place in the final. They scored 10 points in each of the first eight arrows.

While the first end scored 60, India scored 58, 57 and 58 in the other three.
