Afghanistan beat Zimbabwe by 59 runs, reach main round

Nagpur, Mar 12 (IBNS) Afghanistan posted a 59 runs victory against Zimbabwe to cruise to the main round of the ICC World T20 event here on Saturday.

In a qualifier clash, Afghanistan scored 186 for the loss of six wickets and then restricted Zimbabwe at 127 runs in 19.4 overs.

Bowling out Zimbabwe for 127 runs, the Afghanistan bowlers did not give the African side a chance to recover in the innings.

Sikandar Raza remained the top scorer for the side with his 15 while the remaining batting lineup failed miserably.

Rashid Khan picked up three wickets for Afghanistan.

Samiullah Shenwari (43) and Mohammad Nabi (52) added a 98 runs in the fifth wicket partnership which helped Afghanistan reach 186 runs for the loss of six wickets.

Mohammad Shahzad scored 40 runs off 23 balls at the top of the order.

Tinashe Panyangara picked up three wickets for Zimbabwe.
