Former Pakistani pacer Aaqib Javed is likely to replace ex-Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie as the head coach of the national squad in all formats of the game.

According to reports, the change is likely to take place after the T20 International series in Australia.

Gillespie is the coach of the Pakistani Test squad and serves as interim white-ball coach of the team.

As per ESPN Cricinfo report, PCB wanted Gillespie to take over in all formats of the game until he Champions Trophy to be played next year.

"However, he was asked to take on the additional white-ball responsibility without a change in his current contract: in effect, to take on two additional formats without being paid more for the increased scope of his role," reported ESPN Cricinfo.

Gillespie reportedly turned down the offer.

Gillespie was the interim coach of the Pakistani squad after Gary Kirsten resigned.
