Kolkata/IBNS: Four matches into IPL 2026, New Zealand batter Finn Allen is still searching for an innings anywhere near his explosive century in the recently concluded T20 World Cup.

Allen’s dull start to IPL 2026

Though it’s early in the tournament, Allen’s start has been underwhelming.

The 26-year-old right-hander has scored only 80 runs in three matches, averaging 20.

His highest score so far is 37 against Mumbai Indians in the opening match of this edition.

At Eden Gardens—the venue of his record-breaking 33-ball hundred in the World Cup—Allen managed just 22, 12 and 9 in his three innings, failing to make an impact.

Allen’s explosive T20 World Cup performance

Earlier, Allen had delivered a breathtaking 100 off 33 balls* against South Africa in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2026, leading New Zealand to the final.

His innings remains the fastest-ever century in Men’s T20 World Cup history, powering a chase of 170 in jaw-dropping style.

IPL journey before 2026

After amassing over 500 runs for Wellington in the 2020-21 season of Super Smash tournament, Allen was roped in by Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2021.

Signed as a replacement for injured Josh Phillipe, Allen, however, was never capped.
