The 51st edition of the All India Invitational School Regatta 2026 will be held at the Rabindra Sarobar from May 24 to 30, with a record 450 participants from 43 schools across the state and three schools from Tata Academy in neighbouring Jharkhand.

Organised by The Lake Club, the prestigious rowing championship this year is expected to witness intense competition among young rowers from across eastern India.

Addressing a press conference, Lake Club Captain of Boats Sudip Naha said that despite short notice and logistical challenges arising from geo-political conditions, the club has successfully managed to secure participation from 43 schools.

He also confirmed that Tata Academy coach Soma Biswas has ensured the participation of three schools from Jharkhand, setting the stage for a strong challenge to Kolkata-based institutions, including South Point School.

This year’s regatta will feature three major events — Coxed Fours, Double Sculls, and Indoor Rowing. Coxed Fours will see 13 girls’ teams and 14 boys’ teams, while Double Sculls will include 17 girls’ teams and 23 boys’ teams. The Indoor Rowing segment will host 160 participants.

The competition will be held across Junior (up to Class X) and Senior (Classes XI and XII) categories for both boys and girls.

Lake Club President Indranil Ghosh said the organisation is committed to promoting rowing in the state and plans to install a specialised medical facility on the club premises to assess the lung capacity and fitness of participating rowers.

The inaugural ceremony of the regatta will be held at 3 pm on May 24.
