IPL: RCB win, Yuvraj shines

Sharjah, Apr 17 (IBNS) Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) started their Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign in style by defeating Delhi Daredevils by eight wickets here on Thursday.

Yuvraj Singh hammered unbeaten 29-ball 52 which helped his side easily reach the target of 146 by losing two wickets in 16.4 overs after Delhi posted 145 for five on the scoreboard.

Singh smashed three boundaries and five sixes while playing his  first match for the Bangalore side. He showed good signs of returning to form in the match which will indeed something positive for the side.

Kohli on the other hand played a skipper's knock of unbeaten 49 as he added 84 runs with Singh in the third wicket partnership to easily reach the target.

Delhi bowlers could not put pressure on the duo though they picked the wickets of Nic Maddinson (4) and Parthiv Patel (37) quickly to reduce Bangalore to 62 for two.

Mohammed Shami and Rahul Sharma picked up a wicket each for Delhi but gave away runs.

Jean-Paul Duminy's flashing 67 and Ross Taylor 43 helped Delhi Daredevils post 145 for four on the scoreboard earlier.

After being reduced to 35 for four within the eighth over of the match, Delhi recovered well by banking on Duminy and Taylor's 110 runs fifth wicket partnership.

Duminy smashed four boundaries and three sixes in his 48-ball knock.

Varun Aaron, Mitchell Starc, Albie Morkel and Yuzvendra Chahal  picked up a wicket each for RCB.
