Former India Test captain Ajit Wadekar passes away

New Delhi:  Former India Test cricket captain and chief selector Ajit Wadekar passed away in Mumbai's Jaslok Hospital on Wednesday. He was 77.

 

 "Mr. Ajit Wadekar was declared dead on arrival at Jaslok Hos Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre.  He had been critically unwell for sometime and was seeking treatment for the same" the statement by the hospital said.

A former international cricketer, Ajit Laxman Wadekar had played for India from 1966 to 1974.

 He was an aggressive batsman and had captained the Indian team.

He was suffering from several ailments of late.
