Rostov, July 3 (IBNS): Defeating a spirited Japan 3-2, Belgium reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup here on Monday.
Belgium will now face Brazil in the next round of the tournament.
Shocking Belgium, Genki Haraguchi (48th) and Takashi Inui (52nd) gave Japan early 2-0 lead in the match.
At that point of the match, it seemed that Japan might clinch a memorable victory and reach the next round.
However, Belgium had some different plans and a spirited performance by them helped the side in winning the match.
Jan Vertonghen (69th), substitutes Marouane Fellaini (74th) and Nacer Chadli (90+4) scored in the second half to bounce back into the game and eventually win it.
Belgium will now face mighty Brazil on July 6.
