Kazan/Sochi, Jun 30 (IBNS): In two separate matches on Saturday, Argentina's Lionel Messi and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo will be in action in the knockout matches of the FIFA World Cup 2018.

While the first match will be played between Argentina and France, Ronaldo's Portugal will take on Uruguay in the second sporting encounter of the day.

Despite a dismal beginning, Argentina came back strong against Nigeria to reach the last 16 of the tournament.

Messi too had scored a goal against Nigeria along with a stunner from Marcos Rojo.

On the other hand, Portugal's world cup campaign has so far been greatly reliant on their star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo has scored four out of five goals scored by his team in the group stage.

The winner of the two matches will meet in the quarter-final match of the tournament.
