Bangalore, Jan 28 (IBNS): West Indies opener Chris Gayle, who has entertained IPL spectators over the years with his hard hitting performance on the field, was bought by Kings XI Punjab   for his base price of Rs 2 crore  during the last round of player's auction here on Sunday.

He was rejected twice earlier during this edition of the auction.

The Twitter handle of the series said: ".@henrygayle is sold to @lionsdenkxip for INR 200 lacs VIVO #IPLAuction."

With five hundreds, Gayle has captured the minds of spectators over the years.

He has represented Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings Xi Punjab over the years.

His previous team, Royan Challengers Bangalore did not want to retain him this year.

Gayle had hammered 265 sixes in IPL history.

A destroyer, Gayle, however, has lost the sting he used to have in the past.

He could only scored 200 runs in the last season of the cash-rich league.
