Good response to ticket sale for U 17 World Cup in Kolkata

Kolkata, Aug 8 (IBNS): There has been very good response to the sale of tickets for the final match of FIFA U 17 World Cup to be held here at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan on Oct 26 next.

The championship will begin at New Delhi and Mumbai together on Oct 6 and the final  will be held in Kolkata on Oct 6.

Addressing media persons here Tuesday,  FIFA Director of the Local Organising Committee Joy Bhattacharjya said: “There has been overwhelming response from the soccer lovers in Kolkata  as  nearly 35,000  tickets for the final match which were put on sale through on line have already been sold out . Tickets for other group league   matches and a quarter final which would be held in the city  are only  available now.” .

About 67,000 capacity stadium in Salt Lake area of the city will host ten matches including the final, one quarter final , one 3rd and 4th position deciding tie.

Bhattacharjya was also very happy  about the preparatory work in the  Salt Lake stadium complex .

He said it is going very well.

Bhattacharjya informed that  the  original FIFA U 17 Trophy would be on display in the country beginning in New Delhi from Aug 17 next.

The trophy then would be on tour to all other venues  ending the same at Kochi on Sept 26.

The trophy would arrive in Kolkata on Aug 25 and would, be on display  at three places - Khudiram Anushilan Kendra, at a school where students would be able to witness it and Eco-Park in New Town where football lovers in general would be able to visit the same, Bhattacharjya said.
